Different Artists, New Music in the Same Week!

That’s right: there’s new music out – now!

At midnight today both Hey Violet and K.Flay released new music – and they’re fantastic!

Hey Violet released “Break My Heart” – a bop featuring their recently aquired sound. Listen here:

K.Flay released “High Enough”, a track off her upcoming album Everywhere is Somewhere. (Which is now available for preorder!) Judging from this release, the album is going to be great!

WAIT! One more!

3 days ago, on May 7th, Elle King also released a new single titled “Wild Love.”

To me, it’s interesting to hear this track about love coming from Elle King. In my eyes, Elle King’s music has a bit of a reputation of being a bit hard-hearted, not one to sing about falling in love but rather to sing about how she isn’t someone who experiences romantic love often (this is demonstrated in songs from her last album, such as “I Told You I Was Mean“, “Ex’s and Oh’s“, and a bit in “America’s Sweetheart“.) This is a notable change, one that’s caught my interest; I’m eager to find out what she has in store!

Music Video for Guys My Age

One of my first blog entries on Total Band Geek was about Hey Violet’s song “Guys My Age” that had just recently come out as I made my blog. And now – the music video has been released!

When I first watched the music video, I didn’t quite understand. I didn’t get how what was happening had any correlation to the song . . . until the end of the music video!

At the end of the music video lead singer Rena wakes up in her boyfriends car at a drive-in theater. (a drive-in theater is a bit retro… its an outdoor theater where the movie is projected onto a large screen, you park your car and watch the movie while in your car, kiddos.)  This leads me to believe that the rest of the music video before this clip is a dream she had about finding a boyfriend who’s more mature.

I did like the video, and I found it really aesthetically pleasing. I love the retro-type vibe that’s played throughout the music video – especially all the neon lights.

What did you think of the music video? Let me know in the comments!

Recent Release!

If you keep up with 5 Seconds of Summer, who are currently on their second tour: Sounds Live Feels Live, you most likely know of Hey Violet – one of the opening bands of SLFL.

On September 20th Hey Violet released a single called “Guys My Age”. Listen to the new single here: Guys My Age

This single is following the release of their latest EP Brand New Moves, which is also featuring their brand new sound: punk-pop – with emphasis on the pop.
